Special Thanks to Guest Trip Reporter EWB:

This week our intrepid band of hikers braved terrible roads riddled with gigantic holes, steep rocky trails with disorienting switchbacks, icy up and down climbs in doom-filled avalanche gullies, and an unprotected scramble over enormous exposure. It was epic, it was legendary, it was McClellan Peak! And, you know, it went okay.

There were five early ‘NABers. The two earliest were caught just at the summit by our three resident gimps, who showed less gimp and more spry this week. The weather couldn’t have been better, with clouds holding back most of the afternoon heat, but providing a great show up top, where with the wind it was actually a little cool. On the plus side, the cool temps and stiff breeze kept the worst of the infamous McClellan bloodsuckers at bay.

Thinking there were no other hikers this night, our band of TNABros snarfed Pringles, shot a pic, packed up and started down before the normal turnaround time. And, as luck would have it, soon ran into our two resident supermen, one of whom had started at the regular trailhead at exit 42. There wasn’t enough gumption in the gang to return to the top for another group pic with the superduo, so after some chit chat everyone continued in their opposite directions, which for some, but not all, ended at the Pour House for eats and drinks.
