The moon rising signaled that the sunset party was over and it was time to head down.

This hike had it all: new faces, youthful participants, even a Canadian contingent.

We can’t forget to include our overachievers on Alta.

Of course there was a sunset more than worthy of the quick pace to the summit.

And in the end, we celebrated the TNAB tradition of camaraderie atop our climb.

The title sounds like an accurate description of the soaking TNAB took. Somehow though, they are still smiling.

Mosey With The Mozzies

How it started:

This week’s TNAB will be of unconventional variety; choose your adventure (CYA).  We’ll be heading for the Rocky Run TH and up toward Lake Lillian and points beyond starting a tad on the early side (5:30pm) to allot for the longer ventures.  Suggested TNAB targets for the night:

1. Alta Mountain (Challenging, 5:30pm start time advised)
2. Rampart Lakes (Moderate, with swimming options possible)
3. Rampart Ridge (Moderate, its the destination focus for later this month too)
4. Dungeon Peak (Challenging, was the original plan, but the climb is very brushy and nav difficult; not advised in current conditions)
5. Lake Lillian (Easiest, swimming and socializing)

For folks attempting Alta, a 5:30pm start is probably best.  The others can easily be done starting at 6:00pm.  Take pictures, have an adventure, and lets all meet at the Pour House afterward to exchange stories!
See you all on the trail! ~WxMan & The Torch Team

Special Thanks to Torch Team Trip Reporter John (Moosefish):

Here’s the scoop:

Point 5700 doesn’t have a real name and probably doesn’t deserve one. You get there because you missed the turn to the toilet at Melakwa or you’re going to Kaleetan. Or you’re TNAB.

The weather was lousy, but the company and drinks were good. We didn’t linger, but found the Pour House was a great refueling station later in the evening.

Fun night last night.  No official summit shot, but a few good unorthodox group-shots nonetheless. Plus a sun dog.

Special Thanks to Torch Team Trip Reporter Matt (Wxman):

A rather strange night, one of the strangest I can recall,
Traffic backups on I-90, delayed the start of some but not all.
EWB and Zephyr started early, WxMan and Steve started late,
Everything seemed to be normal at first, but soon would deteriorate.
In that tricky bit ‘bove Talapus, WxMan got separated, from Bear,
WxMan went back, Steve carried on to join the celebratory summit affair.
On the descent back down from the summit, some mix-up ensued on the way,
“Wait where is Den?” was uttered, “Is that him down there by Olallie?”
An eventual rendezvous happened, and the last TNABbers found their way down,
After traffic, lost dogs, and marco-polo rounds; alas the tired bunch was Pour House bound.
Here’s to hoping for some grand sunsets and summit shots (pun intended ;-) ) as the long days of summer set in!
